Port Melbourne (Sharks) Vs Heidelberg (Warriors)
Before a home crowd our sharks were only narrowly beaten 0-1 in the NPL Victoria season opener against a team that emerged as champions of the NPL 2017 national play-offs and who also eliminated A-League side Perth Glory in the 2017 FFA Cup.
“The new team started a bit nervous and conceded a very preventable early goal. Once we settled and got the ball down we were able to improve and move quickly. Heidelberg defended well for long periods in 2nd half. We have to be a little sharper in the final third and we will win these types of games. It was an encouraging first hit out against a strong opponent. Lots of positives to bring into our next game against Green Gully on Friday 2nd March”, said Adam Piddick, Port Melbourne Senior Coach.
Many families enjoyed the early 6pm Saturday match combined with a delicious souvlaki.
Our next home game is 6pm Saturday 17th March against Avondale FC.
