Dear Port Melbourne Sharks Members,
On behalf of the Board and myself, I would like to thank all of our NPL players for their ongoing commitment to the club and their personal development throughout this difficult time. The football club understands firsthand the financial and psychological difficulties this pandemic has put on families.
As Head of Football I’m starting to prepare for 2021.
This means within the next week everyone will be receiving 1 of 2 emails regarding next season. One will be a letter of offer and the second one will be a letter to trial. It is our intention to retain 95% of our squads, however as you can understand, with open trials and the ongoing success of our junior program there will be new players wanting to trial. I understand that the latter may be seen harsh or unfair but it is the process of our system.
As we are all unsure when we are able to get back on the pitch it is my intention to get the squads back together to train before the scheduled trials to give current players the best opportunity to be retained, if the timing allows us.
Again, I hope we are all safe and well and look forward to seeing football resumed in the non-so distant future.
